a trip home

This weekend shall bring with it more traveling. This time however it is a trip home, back to good ol' Milwaukee. The purose and necessity of this trip is of a sad nature. My uncle is dying of cancer and we are trying to get home to see him as he is very near the end. Cancer, that disease which has claimed so many lives of so many people, including many of my loved ones... friends and family, young and old alike. So, prayers would be appreciated as we make this sad trip back to the place of my birth and so many wonderful memories. This trip nearly echoes one that was made many years ago, when I was just 8 years old. My grandma was dying of cancer and it was this same kind of trip that we made to kiss her and talk to her one last time... I, the oldest of her grandchildren, remember the trip and all that followed quite well. No doubt this trip will revive those memories as well as many others, which have been quieted by the passing of time and the consolation of grace. Trips such as these are never easy and for my family, it is a sad time... it is one when the only true consolation comes from the One who is the Author of Life, our Heavenly Father. Apart from him, the weight and grief that comes with the eventual loss of a family member or loved one is unbearable. So, please pray for my entire family and most especially for my uncle, Robert.
